| Given the nature of the pre-war Grand Prix cars - narrow bodied, long wheel base - it has always been difficult to find off-the- shelf wheels and chassis to suit 1/32 scale versions. However Penelope Pitlane produces the ideal parts to build up and complete TRRC body kits. Chassis and wheels are detailed below and are available direct from TRRC. Please see our ordering/contact page for pricing. CHASSIS - All the Penelope Pitlane chassis are precision photo etched in Nickel Silver combining increased rigidity with a superlative finish. The fold lines are half etched to ensure accuracy. Each chassis is adjustable over a range of wheelbase. These chassis are designed to be assembled in just a few minutes with no soldering. Chassis are designed to accept the most popular motors, running gear etc. 3/32” axles with nylon bearings or single flange oilites fit straight in. Suitable guides are the Ninco sprung guide for home tracks and the Slot.it SICH07 for wooden tracks. WHEELS - The wheels are precision CNC machined in aluminium alloy. Rear wheels have a boss and M2 stainless grub screws. Front wheels have a smaller boss and may be fixed to the axle with glue or Loctite. Wheels are designed to suit a standard 3/32 axle (2.38mm), and accept the superb photo-etch wire wheel insert. PHOTO-ETCH INSERTS - A truly amazing representation of a classic wire wheel with two layers of spokes. The inner spokes press into the CNC machined wheels to form a dished shape. The outer spokes even feature a tiny valve. They come as a set for 4 including 2 ear white metal spinners. |
